Arthritis
Arthritis is a classification of the diseases that are categorized as ones that occur in the joints between bones and cause pain, stiffness and swelling. The joints that connect bones are composed of cartilage and synovial membrane that separates the two connecting bones, and when these joints are worn they start to inflame and hurt. Osteoarthritis is the most common arthritis and is mostly prevalent in people 55 years and older. It is when the cartilage has broken down and the bones start rubbing each other. Pain, stiffness and spurs, which are bone growths, are common symptoms. When the arthritis feels like it is inflamed it is because the synovial membrane swells from fluids that were released into the tissue, which increase the blood flow and cause it to feel swollen and look red.
